The Word of Wisdom, 27 February 1833

And [the beasts of the field, and the fowls of heaven, and all wild animals that run or creep on the earth] hath God made for the use of man only in times of famine and excess of hunger. [Doctrine and Covenants (Salt Lake City, Utah, U.S.A.: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1989), section 89, verses 12–15, p. 176; paragraphing modified.]
